Refunds and deferrals.
-If you are unable to race for good cause (please don't just tell us you didn't get your training in as planned!), here are your options:
Before January 1
Deferral of your race entry to the following year
or
Refund of 50% of your entry fee
January 1 - Feb 1
Deferral of your race entry to the following year
No Refunds
Feb 2 and later
No Deferrals, No Refunds
Please understand how much goes into planning and preparing for the Winter Challenge and that once we hit about January 1, all the proverbial cows are in the barn with monies allocated towards food, shirts, insurance, etc. And that's not to mention the difficulty of keeping track of such requests in the midst of all the chaos leading up to the race.
Important Note Regarding Mailing of T-shirts to Those Who Can't Make It:
As much as we'd like to accommodate such requests, t-shirts on race day are a pretty hot commodity. In short, this is a very tall ask, and though we'd like to say we can make it happen, the chances of it actually coming to pass are about as good as Frosty making it thru a full day in hell. Don't get me wrong... we still love you. It's just virtually impossible to do.

Need a Kayak?
Head here to take care of the kayak situation. Our good friends at Nature Adventures will take care of everything.
Has the WC ever been delayed or cancelled?

The Winter Challenge will be held under inclement conditions, including rain, sleet, or shine. We're pretty serious about this one, just ask Pete Chaplin (right). Refunds will not be available unless arrangements are made well in advance with the race director.
Under severe weather conditions, the race may be postponed, at the discretion of the race management. If that's how it goes down, and we highly doubt it will, persons unable to participate would be entitled to a refund.
And in the nicest way possible, we should also point out that refunds will not offered within six weeks of race day. If you've got a legit reason you cannot race, we will offer deferments to the following year up until three weeks prior to the race.
After that, well... the cows are out of the barn and the money's already spent.
